A little preparation. A more comfortable visit.
Simple guidance before your IV or injection appointment. Always follow the specific instructions given for your treatment or blood test.

Arrive ready. Ask freely.
Bring your questions as well as your health information. Your consultation is the time to discuss suitability, what to expect, possible risks and any preparation that is specific to your selected treatment.
Blood-test preparation can differ from IV preparation. If you are unsure about fasting, medicines or supplements, confirm the instructions rather than guessing.
Eat and hydrate normally
For a standard IV appointment, a balanced meal and water beforehand are usually appropriate. If you are also having blood tests, follow any test-specific fasting instructions instead.
Share your medical history
Tell your clinician about medications, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, pregnancy and any recent illness. Do not stop prescribed medication unless your prescriber advises it.
Dress comfortably
Wear sleeves that can be rolled up easily, giving the clinician access to your arm.
Avoid alcohol beforehand
Where possible, avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment. Discuss recent alcohol use honestly with the treating professional.
Allow time for your consultation
Arrive a few minutes early when appointments become available so there is time to discuss your health, complete any paperwork and ask questions.
Bring recent results
If you have had recent blood or health tests, bring the reports to help inform your assessment.
