Thoughtful care, beyond your appointment.
Take your treating clinician’s advice with you. These general steps do not replace the instructions provided for your individual treatment.

Take it gently. Stay informed.
Most people can return to normal light activities when they feel well after a standard treatment. Your clinician may recommend a different plan depending on the infusion, injection or your health.
Make sure you know the follow-up and aftercare contact arrangements before leaving your appointment. If symptoms persist, worsen or concern you, seek appropriate medical advice.
Look after the cannula site
Keep the plaster on for a few hours, or for the period your clinician advises. Keep the area clean and monitor for redness, swelling or pain.
Stay hydrated
Continue drinking water normally throughout the day, unless your healthcare professional has given you a fluid restriction.
Eat a balanced meal
Continue your normal balanced diet. An infusion is not a substitute for regular meals or healthy nutrition.
Take it gently
Avoid intense exercise for 24 hours unless your clinician advises otherwise. Light movement is usually fine when you feel well.
Pay attention to how you feel
Bruising or mild discomfort may occur after needle-based treatments. Persistent or worsening symptoms should be assessed rather than assumed to be normal.
Get help when needed
Follow the aftercare contact instructions provided by your treating clinician. For severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain or collapse, seek emergency medical help immediately.
